サンドらず　Sandorazu – A new style of sandwich

Moving on from last year’ s boom of ‘onigirazu’ (a type of rice ball that is not squeezed into the usual shape of an onigiri), a new popular food trend called the ‘サンドらず’ has emerged in Japan.

Instead of having fillings sandwiched between two slices of bread, this new style of sandwich uses one slice of bread (Crust removed) folded into a cone shape with the fillings inside and exposed on the top, resembling a temaki. The outer surface of the bread is then wrapped with decorative paper or plastic.
